A Fellow of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology and a Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Mark de Fazio is a Phi Beta Kappa, Cum Laude graduate of Holy Cross College in Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Classics. Born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, he received his Doctorate in Medicine from SUNY Downstate Medical Center and completed his residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Brookdale Hospital Medical Center in Brooklyn, New York, where he was Administrative Chief Resident in his final year.
Dr. Mark de Fazio joined his father Dr. Laurence de Fazio in practice in 1990. He is an Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Brooklyn and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. He is fluent in Italian.
At Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, “Dr. Mark” is closely involved with the supervision and education of residents and medical students, where he gives them lectures throughout the year. He has also served as a member of the hospital’s Bylaws Committee, Credentials Committee and the Continuing Education Committee. In addition, in 2020 he was elected President of the Medical Board of New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, a position he held until 2023. During this time he worked closely with hospital administration in battling the COVID 19 Pandemic. Prior to that he had served as the Board's Secretary Treasurer and Vice President.
