Dr. Andrew L de Fazio

A Diplomate of the American Board of Obstetrics & Gynecology, Dr. Andrew de Fazio is a Phi Beta Kappa, Magna Cum Laude graduate of Holy Cross College in Massachusetts where he received a Bachelor of Arts in Classics.  Born and raised in Brooklyn New York, he received his Doctorate in Medicine from SUNY Stonybrook and completed his Residency in Obstetrics & Gynecology at Winthrop University Hospital in Mineola, New York. He then completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive and Advanced Laparoscopic Surgery under Dr. Ceana Nezhat at Northside Hospital in Atlanta, Georgia.

While he worked with Dr. Nezhat, Dr. Andrew de Fazio co-authored several chapters in textbooks on advanced laparoscopic and hysteroscopic techniques. He co-authored several research papers on advanced laparoscopic surgery, pelvic pain and endometriosis that were accepted for publication in various, reputable, American medical journals.

He also produced several instructional videos on various aspects of laparoscopic surgery, one of which was awarded first place at the 2004 Film Festival of the American College of Obstetrics & Gynecology.

Dr. Andrew de Fazio joined his father Dr. Laurence de Fazio and his brothers Drs. Mark and Gregory de Fazio in practice in 2004. He is an Attending Physician at the New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital in Park Slope, Brooklyn and an Assistant Clinical Professor of Obstetrics & Gynecology at the Weill Cornell Medical College of Cornell University. He is fluent in Italian. At New York Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist Hospital, “Dr. Andrew” is closely involved with the supervision and education of residents and medical students. He received the Chief Residents Teaching Award in 2012 and was elected to the hospital’s “Healer’s Hall of Fame". He was also selected to serve as a member of the hospital’s Quality Assurance Committee and the Ethics Committee.
